My favorite recipe is an English pound cake recipe that my grandmother used to make for us. It is made with “one pound of ingredients” (as my grandmother used to say) including a ton of butter, sugar, and sour cream with orange, lemon, and vanilla extracts. She used to make it for every holiday with a powdered sugar glaze, and it was even better as leftovers chilled in the fridge.
When my grandmother passed away, I found the recipe in a drawer in her kitchen. I photocopied it and shared it with my sister and our first cousins. We make this cake on holidays, for friends, and just because we like it. I’ve even played around with different flavors, e.g. chocolate, gingerbread, etc.
Writing this post has made me crave its deliciousness. Perhaps I’ll go right now and bake one!

Never tried pound cake before. I have bakes madiera, chocolate fudge and just about every other staple, but not this. Might give it a try some time (will help me learn the imperial metric for a change)
