Daily Prompt #12: Describe your ideal week.

An ideal week of writing unfolds with an ambitious word count. Monday morning commences with my daughter’s cheerful face and a much-needed cup of coffee. Once my daughter has been safely dropped off at kindergarten, I walk home to get the creative juices flowing.

Settled into my leather desk chair, I turn the computer on, my fingers flying over the keyboard as I jot down my thoughts from my walk.

Tuesday to Thursday are “normal” work days, and ideally, they would consist of writing after hours or during the train ride to and from the office.

Friday starts a lot like Monday, except the weekend is looming.

On Saturdays, my daughter and I go to the zoo to see the lions, penguins, and polar bears … her favorites. We follow up the zoo with dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant, where my daughter eats half my paneer and most of my rice, which she has dubbed “spicy rice,” even though she eats it plain.

On Sundays, we might visit the pool, the clear water cooling our skin. A reprieve from the summer heat.

Sunday closes with books, snuggles, and dreams of a hopefully second ideal week.
