Daily Prompt #8: What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

I try to walk at least for 30 minutes each day. Sometimes, I walk for up to 3 hours per day. Walking helps to relieve stress and expel writers block. It’s a great workout! It’s also a healthy way to stay in shape and doesn’t bother my joints like running does. Yes, I need to walk longer to burn the same calories as running, but at the end of it, my knees aren’t killing me! I tried running, but a) I just didn’t like it and b) I could never sustain it for more than a few days, without having to take a few days off to rest my body from the impacts.

Usually I listen to an audiobook or podcast while walking. Sometimes, if I need to get the creative juices flowing, I just think. Summer has been hard on walking because it’s often too hot to spend much time outdoors. After reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, I tried to start a habit of walking at least 10,000 steps per day. It had been hard on some days, especially days when I’m tired or have no motivation. Now that fall is almost here, I am getting excited to have more time to fit in my walks.

Walking is great and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a healthy and easy exercise activity.
