I am very excited to be self-publishing my book, Conceiving Hope, a women’s fiction novel about a woman in her late thirties who, after a disastrous marriage and string of failed relationships, decides to conceive a baby using a sperm donor.
I struggled with the concept of self-publishing versus traditional publishing. I initially tried querying agents, but I always found the process very stressful. Essentially, you are hoping that someone will subjectively tell you that your book will make a publisher money. Although I received some positive, detailed feedback from about 1% of the agents I queried, the overall experience was negative, and left me feeling slightly depressed.
The minute I decided to stop querying and start the process of self-publishing, I became extremely happy. I am reviewing the manuscript one final time for any last-minute revisions. The cover is being designed (to be shared soon), and I will also share the first three chapters in the upcoming weeks with followers of my blog.
I hope you will share my excitement about a work that I am very proud of!
